The second project of 317 core studio introduced site and scale. We were asked to design a contemplation space in a local park. First, we analyzed the site by mapping different phenomena using the language from our material organizations. I mapped out the view corridors as dictated by terrain and trees.

Next, the site was modeled using these drawings and constructed with variations of our units. The longitudinal edge of each piece of the surface represents a view corridor. Using this mapping, I placed a series of structures that direct movement through the landscape. Placed perpendicular to the site lines these structures act as frames. The main structures lift out of the landscape, transitioning from a wall condition to a cantilevered overhang, forming inhabitable spaces in which to contemplate the landscape.
